Emergency numbers issued for tonight

The decision was made to allocate two special numbers at a meeting of representatives of all emergency services and Transport and Technical Services on Friday afternoon.

The stormy weather resulted in a number of trees coming down, and all Condor high-speed ferry sailings to and from the UK on Friday and Saturday were cancelled.

A combination of winds and high tides also meant that Friday’s Commodore Clipper service to Portsmouth was unable to operate, although the Clipper is expected to be able to travel on Saturday with a slightly altered route.

Condor is running additional services on Sunday for those affected by the cancellation of the Jersey to Weymouth service.

The winds were also causing some problems at the Airport. Passengers were being advised to check travel information, although there was not expected to be too much disruption on Saturday.
