A copy of the celebrated Dictionnaire Jersiais-Français, compiled by his father Dr Frank Le Maistre, was presented by Jean Le Maistre, president of Le Don Balleine.
He also donated two more recent dictionaries, Lé Dictionnaithe Jèrriais-Angliais and Lé Dictionnaithe Angliais-Jèrriais, produced by L’Office du Jèrriais, headed by language officer Tony Scott Warren and spearheaded by Geraint Jennings.
Mr Le Maistre explained that his father’s ‘magnum opus’ was published 50 years ago on 14 October 1966 to mark the 900th anniversary of the Battle of Hastings.
