Dozens take to the stage at first Jersey X Factor auditions

Dozens of Islanders plucked up the courage to audition for the ITV talent show at the Jersey Opera House on Friday and Saturday.

Hopefuls could choose any song they liked to impress the judges during their audition which is filmed and then shown to other experts in the UK. Those lucky enough to make it through to the televised auditions in front of Simon Cowell and co will be informed before 17 July.

One of those auditioning was 26-year-old Sophie Fox, a health care assistant who suffers from epilepsy and tubular sclerosis – a rare genetic disease that causes benign tumours to grow in the brain and other vital organs.

Miss Fox, who was being supported by her boyfriend Chris Toudic (33), said she was nervous. She was due to sing Someone Like You by Adele.
