States press officer for post-Brexit ‘necessary’

The role in the External Relations Department was filled by community campaigner Christian May, who officially started earlier this month.

Responding to a question from Deputy Mike Higgins, External Relations Minister Sir Philip Bailhache revealed that three candidates were shortlisted and interviewed for the post from eight applications.

He said: ‘The ministry followed an open process for the recruitment of the communications officer in External Relations. The post was advertised in the local newspaper and on gov.je. I am satisfied that the post is necessary and that the official appointed to fill it is entirely competent.’
