‘Walk on the wall’ to raise heart health funds

Catherine Jackson is planning to walk the entire length of Hadrian’s Wall – 84 miles – to raise money for the British Heart Foundation.

Mrs Jackson (45) intends to start the walk at Bowness-on-Solway near Carlisle on 28 April and finish in Wallsend, near Newcastle-upon-Tyne, on 1 May.

‘Dad was the head of Health and Social Services in Jersey when he died,’ Mrs Jackson said. ‘He was a caring man and had an amazing ability to listen to everyone. I might finish in Newcastle to have a drink for him, as he was from Newcastle originally.’

She has set up a justgiving page on the internet and has already raised her initial target of £500, but is now hoping to double that.
