Flybe leases planes to Irish airline

The Embraer EI95s, which are based at Southend Airport, are to be operated by Flybe on behalf of Stobart Air under a crewed lease arrangement, according to national media reports.

The Daily Telegraph has reported that it appears to be the latest move by the firm to address over-capacity issues on its fleet.

Last year the airline had to reduce the number of aircraft it had ordered and had to ground other planes after failing to find enough profitable routes.

Last year Flybe entered a franchise agreement with Blue Islands, under which Blue Islands has remained locally owned, but planes are branded in Flybe colours and bookings are made through the Flybe website.
