‘Dream holidays’ ruined by British Airways IT problems

Chaotic scenes were reported at Gatwick and Heathrow airports three days running after all BA flights were cancelled from both London airports on Saturday.

The problems continued well into the weekend, with a backlog of passengers hoping to catch their rescheduled flights still delayed yesterday.

In a statement the airline said that a full schedule of flights was running from Gatwick and they intended to operate a full long-haul schedule and a ‘high proportion’ of its short-haul programme at Heathrow.

The airline blamed a power supply issue for the outage but said there was no sign that it had been subject to a cyber-attack.

A number of Islanders missed ‘dream holidays’ because of the continuing problems.
