Dunelm given ‘phenomenal’ reception

The UK chain opened on the first floor at the Co-op’s flagship Grand Marché store in St Helier last week and was described as being ‘incredibly busy’ in its first few days.

Co-op chief executive Colin Macleod said: ‘The community reaction to Dunelm has been phenomenal and we are delighted to have played a small part in introducing a value-focused homeware offering to the Island.

‘The first few days were incredibly busy with very long queues forming at their checkouts.

‘I am also really pleased that some members of our community have taken the opportunity to take a fresh look at our new town store [which has been modernised and reshaped] – I think the complementary offering of both is mutually supportive.’

Dunelm, which operates 160 shops and employs more than 9,000 people across the UK, sells thousands of products for the home and garden.
