Reward offered to help find Tamba arsonist

The fire in the early hours of 27 August was put out quickly by firefighters and did not affect the park.

However, Mr Ruff said investigations had now concluded that it was started deliberately and he wants the culprits caught.

Writing on the park’s Facebook page he said: ‘It’s shocking to think someone would do such a thing but even more so given the proximity of the fire to Tamba Park, a family attraction that gives its profits to feeding starving children in Africa.

‘Fortunately the fire was put out quickly but ten more minutes and it could have spread and effected Tamba which would have had great consequences – thankfully it did not.’

He added that until the perpetrators are caught security has been increased at the park with 14 long-range night vision cameras around the perimeter of the glasshouses as well as some internal hidden cameras.

He said: ‘Please don’t let any of this put you off coming to Tamba, Tamba is a safe fun place for children and adults that supports a great cause we want to keep growing and bettering our offering and we need your support to do this.’

Mr Ruff, who has applied to turn the glasshouse site into a holiday village, also said he would not be deterred from pushing forward with his expansion plans.
