Law Officers to rule on credit card prosecution

Detectives working on the case have passed a file to the Law Officers’ Department for further consideration.

Ultimately it is the parish Centeniers that have the power to charge a suspect with an offence.

In some cases they can do this without the Law Officers’ advice. However, in more complicated cases the LOD are consulted.

The JEP revealed in August that a ‘man in his 40s’ was the subject of the investigation however no names have been disclosed by the force.

In a short statement, a States police spokeswoman said: ‘The investigation has concluded and a prosecution advice file has been submitted to the LOD. No arrests have been made.’

A person guilty of such a crime under the Public Finances (Jersey) Law can face up to ten years in prison and be given an unspecified fine.
