Bohemia ‘one of the best restaurants in the world’

The accolade, which was announced at an awards ceremony in London this week, puts Bohemia among the 15 highest-rated restaurants in the UK, alongside Heston Blumenthal’s The Fat Duck, Raymond Blanc’s Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons and Hélène Darroze at The Connaught.

It is the highest AA ranking that a restaurant can receive and recognises the ‘pinnacle’ of cooking which compares with the best in the world.

The AA says such restaurants ‘have highly individual voices, exhibit breathtaking culinary skills, and set standards to which others aspire to, yet few achieve’.

Bohemia head chef Steve Smith said: ‘I am absolutely delighted and lost for words at receiving this highly prestigious accolade.

‘This is an enormous accomplishment and I will be celebrating with my whole team at Bohemia. We strive to create unique and innovative menus for our customers so that they have an exceptional dining experience; therefore I am truly delighted that the hard work of our fantastic team at Bohemia has been rewarded.’

Bohemia was recently ranked as the 11th best restaurant in the whole of the UK in the Good Food Guide 2018. It is also number 42 in Square Meal’s Top 100 Best Restaurants 2017 and is the only restaurant in the Channel Islands to be featured in both lists.

Meanwhile at the same awards event, the L’Horizon Beach Hotel & Spa was presented with the Red Star Award: the AA Inspectors’ Choice in Britain & Ireland.

The award recognises the hotel as one of the best in the British Isles ‘offering excellent levels of quality throughout, outstanding levels of hospitality and service’.
