Man who swore at his boss is given fine of £300

Darren Bryan Le Tarouilly (49), of Mont Millais, was sentenced for using threatening or abusive words or behaviour in Tower Carpets at Castle Quay on 17 October.

Centenier Philip Coffey said that police were called to the shop following reports of a disruptive ex-employee. When officers arrived they found Le Tarouilly arguing over his dismissal and money he believed was owed to him.

He was using foul and abusive language and was warned about his language, the court heard.

As officers were concerned that he was going to assault an employee they arrested him.

Committing the offence put Le Tarouilly in breach of a six-month binding-over order imposed in July.

The defendant claimed that he had been the victim of an assault by a police officer when he had been arrested. He told the court that he had made a complaint to the police and that a senior officer had called him last week to say there was nothing he could do about the complaint until the case was concluded.

‘I was walking out of the store and I was assaulted by the officer.

‘I have made a complaint. It was a bad shove and I also went through the glass.

‘There was blood all over the place and I did not threaten the officers.’

The defendant claimed that his employer owed him £600.

‘I walked in to dispute my wages and he sacked me on the spot,’ he said.
