An investigation has been launched after one of the men suffered serious head injuries and remains in hospital receiving treatment.
A statement released by the force says: ‘The police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a physical altercation that occurred at approximately 10:45 hrs on Friday 15 December in the area of Hope Street and Bond Street.
‘Two males, both of whom were in their mid-twenties, were observed to be involved in a sustained fight. One of the males sustained serious head injuries and is currently in hospital receiving treatment. It is possible that the males may have been involved in a further altercation in the area of Wharf Street and Conway Street.’
