Former Constable aiming to return

The 65-year-old was elected parish Constable in 2005 and served two terms before being unseated by Steve Pallett in 2011.

As previously reported, Mr Pallett will not be seeking re-election in the parish and will instead stand for Senator.

During his time in the States, Mr Jackson, who stood unsuccessfully for the St Brelade No 1 Deputy seat in 2014, coming second to Murray Norton, worked on Scrutiny panels and also served as Transport Minister.

He has been active in the parish for many years, first as a roads inspector, and has held the positions of Constable’s Officer and Centenier since leaving the States.

In a statement, Mr Jackson, who runs Jackson Yacht Services in St Aubin, said: ‘In having the benefit of running a business and more recently a Post Office in St Aubin as well as living at La Moye and also through my Centenier role, I am very much in touch with the local community on a day-to-day basis.

‘I very much welcome people sharing their views and concerns with me and being able to offer help when called upon to do so. If elected, I look forward to that continuing.

‘I intend to remain focused on the parish, both the urbanised and country areas, and build on much that has been achieved and celebrated in our special community.’

He added: ‘I’m sincerely grateful to those who have encouraged me to stand again for the office of Constable. I will endeavour always to do my best to represent parishioners’ interests and develop further the great spirit we are so lucky to have in St Brelade.’
