Schoolchildren bury time capsule at Charing Cross development site

The group were shown around the site by Mark O’Shea from construction company Camerons, and heard a talk on the dangers of building sites and advice on how to stay safe.

They were also shown around the new Co-op shop being built at the site
and even got a chance to get their hands dirty by painting on the walls of the new hotel.

Finally, the group moved to Pitt Street, where the whole street is being transformed as part of the redevelopment. And while Co-op chief executive Colin Macleod watched on, they buried a time capsule with items produced by the children, some Lego blocks they had used for their construction week projects and other small mementos. The capsule is due to be paved over within the next four weeks and a stone will be laid above describing what is underneath.
