SNOW: More snow to come for Jersey today – but warnings downgraded

The first band, which arrived in the early hours, gave a light dusting across the Island.

Further bands of snow, and possibly freezing rain, are expected to move up from France during the rest of the day as Storm Emma tracks north-east and collides with the Siberian air which is covering most of western Europe.

However, the red warning issued yesterday has now been downgraded to an orange warning.

Jersey Met say accumulations of between 1cm and 3cm are now possible,

Speaking to the JEP shortly after 7 am, Jersey Met forecaster Adrienne Le Maistre said: ‘We are not over the snow yet.

‘There is currently another band of snow moving north out of Brittany and this should be with us in an hour or so.

‘Further bands will also move over us during the course of the day. These are likely to be of snow but we could see some freezing rain as well.’

The snow is expected to turn to rain by this evening as milder air moves up from the south.
