Hospital meals to be prepared in St Peter

Plans lodged by Jersey Property Holdings state that 40 people will prepare food at the facility between 8 am and 5 pm, five days a week, before it is transported to the hospital by electric vehicle three times each day.

Nine residents living near the site commented on the application and raised concerns about noise, smells and traffic.

However, both Jersey Property Holdings and the Planning Department claim they are confident that there would not be any undue disturbance from the site.

Property Holdings have also pledged to install anti-odour carbon filters on vents at the site should any issues arise.

Environmental Health was involved in assessing the application and have said that they have no objections as long as a plan is put in place to reduce any potential noise.

The decision was made during a planning committee meeting held on Thursday.

Other plans considered by the committee included the construction of a three-bedroomed staff-accommodation block at Retreat Farm in St Mary which was refused, contrary to Planning Officer’s recommendations.

The committee also refused plans to build a two-bedroom house at Fresh Fields in St John.

In total 16 applications were considered.
