Tickets for the charity’s largest annual fundraiser are now on sale and a total of £1,300,000 is due to be given away in prize money.
Top prize is £1 million while prizes of £100,000, £75,000, £50,000, £25,000 and five prizes of £10,000 are also up for grabs.
Tickets cost £300 each and the charity says funds raised from the Million Pound Lottery will be put towards the services it offers to children and young people with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions and their families.
Julie Coward, Jersey Hospice Care’s chairwoman, said: ‘It’s wonderful to be able to offer everyone in the local community a chance to win a life changing amount of money. Remember to buy your tickets early. Last year, they sold out in just six weeks.
‘This year, in support of the extension of our services to children and young people and their families, we hope to sell 7,000 tickets. Our thanks go to de Gruchy and NatWest for hosting us this year and to all the volunteers who help sell tickets and donate their time to this event.’
Tickets will be available across the Island, including for the second year, in store at de Gruchy. Once again, de Gruchy has sponsored an early bird prize draw, giving away an in-store gift card worth £1,000 to one person who purchases their ticket before Friday 29 June.
Information on the live draw will be announced nearer the time.
Meanwhile, Jersey Hospice is this year backing a national awareness week dedicated to recognising the care provided by hospices to young people with life-limiting conditions.
Children’s Hospice Week starts on Monday and is organised by the charity Together for Short Lives. As part of the week Islanders are being asked to share their Life’s Short moments by posting on social media what they most enjoy in life and what they wish they could do more of using the hashtags #LifesShort and #CHWJersey.
Dr Natalie Kemp, paediatric doctor at Jersey Hospice Care, said: ‘We started our journey to expand our care to include children and young people with life-limiting conditions this year, leading with our emotional support service.
‘To date we have received 16 referrals for children and young people with life-limiting conditions. We cannot change the diagnosis but we can help to make a difference, supporting young people to make moments that matter, alongside the support already offered by other organisations and charities on the Island.’
