Police investigation of alleged cruelty to dog

The force is appealing for witnesses after it received a report of animal cruelty involving a black springer spaniel. In a statement the police said that the dog was pulled by its collar with force while in the car park at El Tico on Saturday 4 August, some time between 8 pm and 8.30 pm.

The dog was placed in a metallic green Land Rover-type car by a man believed to be its owner.

The driver sped off after he was confronted by a man in the car park.

The dog’s owner is described as being about 60, of slim build with short greying hair and a ‘posh’ accent.

He was wearing a tan-coloured T-shirt, trousers and light-coloured canvas shoes.
