The 17-year-old, who faces two counts of robbery, has been remanded into custody and is due to appear in the Youth Court on Tuesday.
The charges relate to an incident during which two boys were allegedly forced to hand over cash and a mobile phone at the junction of Trinity Road and Dongola Road.
The teenager, who cannot be named, was arrested on Friday morning and charged later in the day.
