The current owner of the club, Mike Ashley, who also owns Sports Direct and House of Fraser, put Newcastle United up for sale in 2017 after ten years in charge.
Recent reports claim that the club’s asking price has been dropped from £380 million to £300 million, and Mr Ashley is quoted as saying that negotiations to sell the club ‘are at a more progressed stage than they have ever been’.
According to articles this week in the national and international media, Mr Kenyon has been speaking to investors in the United States and has reached a stage in his discussions where it is believed a firm bid to acquire the club will soon be made.
