Former Jersey teacher jailed for sexually abusing girls

Ian David Priestley’s victims ‘lost their innocence’ as a consequence of his offending, which happened between the 1990s and 2003, the Royal Court heard.

The 66-year-old, who was found guilty last month of four counts of indecent assault and four counts of procuring acts of gross indecency, showed no emotion as he was today jailed by the Superior Number, which only convenes for the most serious of cases.

Outlining the case for the prosecution, Crown Advocate Julian Gollop said: ‘These were offences committed by a mature adult against two naive teenagers who lost their innocence in consequence of the defendant’s offending.’

Priestley was a former teacher at Les Quennevais and Le Rocquier but moved to work in the finance industry in the late 1980s. Neither of the victims were his pupils.
