Pizzeria gutted by fire set to re-open

Pizzeria Romana at Charing Cross has been shut since a blaze tore through the building in April. At the time, owner Tony Pigliacelli said: ‘If we do come back it is going to take a long time.’

But now, less than three months after the blaze, the owner has said they will be moving into temporary premises at Cheapside.

He said: ‘As you know Pizzeria Romana in Charing Cross is closed following a fire which destroyed the building. The process of rebuilding is slow but has already started and when it’s complete we will return for business as usual.

‘We are temporarily relocating the business to new premises and hope to re-open Pizzeria Romana sometime in July. We will call it Pizzeria Romana 2 and the address is 2 Elizabeth Place, Cheapside.

This is a temporary measure which we feel we must take to keep us all happy and sane. We will let you know the official date we will re-open and hope you can come and see us. Thank you for being patient and great supporters.’
