Retrial for convicted murderer

Retrial for convicted murderer

In March Jamie Lee Warn was convicted of killing 37-year-old Hungarian national Zsuszanna Besenyei and perverting the course of justice by trying to hide her body at Le Pulec bay on the west of the Island near L’Etacq. The area is locally known as Stinky Bay.

Warn, who was 55 at the time of his sentencing, yesterday appeared before the Court of Appeal to hear that a retrial had been ordered.

No date for the retrial has yet been set.

In June the labourer was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum tariff of 19 years.

During the brief hearing yesterday, the Court of Appeal cited ‘irregularities’ in the original trial as the reason for a retrial.

Warn, who has been remanded in custody until his retrial, was represented by Advocate James Bell.

James W McNeill QC was presiding, and Clare Montgomery QC and the Bailiff of Guernsey, Sir Richard Collas, were also sitting.
