Marc Le Cornu, who runs the BAM Perspectives company, topped the abstract category in the drone section of the Siena Awards for 2019 for his picture of a speedboat creating a figure-of-eight wake.
The results were announced at a ceremony on Saturday evening in Tuscany.
On BAM’s Twitter account Mr Le Cornu, the former Jersey Fire and Rescue Service station commander, said: ‘Gutted not to have been at the @SIPAContest ceremony in Tuscany tonight, but honoured to have heard my name read about as abstract category winner of the drone awards 2019!!
‘Thank you so much @SIPAContest.’
Mr Le Cornu was unable to make a comment to the JEP on receiving the award because he is currently working on a photography project in Saudi Arabia.
