Work begins to repair damaged sea wall

Granite coping stones and a section of metal railings near the area known as Cutty Sark were ripped away after being buffeted by waves during stormy weather on Tuesday morning. Several paving slabs along the walkway were also damaged.

The high tide at 7.31am on Tuesday peaked at about 40ft, and left parts of the Five Mile Road flooded.

Following weeks of wet and windy conditions, more settled weather is expected to become established next week.
