Third coronavirus death in Jersey

The person was described as in their ‘late sixties’ and having had underlying health conditions. Their next of kin have been informed and are being supported.

Health Minister Richard Renouf said: ‘I would like to extend my sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased. It is always sad to lose a loved one and I am sure we all feel sympathy for their loss.

‘Health and Community Services will not be releasing any further information in order to protect the privacy of the deceased and their family.’

As of Friday there were 118 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the Island, 232 tests pending and 992 tests confirmed negative.

The death follows that of a person in their 70s with significant underlying health conditions who had been under the care of the health services for some time a week ago and, a few days earlier, that of a patient in their 80s on an end of life pathway who had been receiving palliative care.
