Delay for business support details

Delay for business support details

The information – which is expected to provide clarity for businesses about phase 2 of the Government Co-Funded Payroll Scheme – had been due out on Friday. However, the government announced that following feedback from stakeholders it needed more time to finalise the details.

It now expects to publish the information next week.

Economic Development Minister Lyndon Farnham said: ‘I understand that many business owners and employees expected clarity on the next phase of payroll support scheme today.

‘However, my fellow ministers and I are keen to ensure that we get all the necessary detail absolutely right, as this will be the biggest injection of financial support ever made into the Island’s economy.’

The second phase was announced last month and will co-fund 80% of the wages of employees across a range of sectors, up to a maximum of £1,600 a month.
