THE Days Like These festival due to be held in Jersey next month has been cancelled.

The event was set to take place at Val de la Mare and feature acts including Happy Mondays, James and Soul II Soul.

In a Facebook post, the event organisers said: ‘It is with heavy hearts that today, we are forced to make the unfortunate decision to cancel this year’s launch of DAYS LIKE THESE scheduled for Sunday 10th July at Val de la Mare, St Peter.

‘With only 2 weeks to go, we were on course for a fantastic launch with so many people looking forward to joining their friends and families at the event that promised to be a great day out for all to enjoy.

‘Whilst we have all done our best to navigate our way out of the pandemic, there are a number of factors that have played a part in this decision. Unfortunately with the major UK event schedule returning to full capacity this year, including elite artist tours and major festivals, we have faced a myriad of logistical challenges within the usual events supply chain that has now prevented us from being able to maintain the level of show we planned for.

‘The main reason for this cancellation, which is a show stopping decision, is simply that we have lost the booking of the main stage structure that was set to come across from the UK. Upon hearing of this complete shock to our plans, we have spent the last few days relentlessly trying to source a replacement, only to learn that there is nothing suitable that is available at such short notice that would be able to host the large tour parties of JAMES, SOUL II SOUL, HAPPY MONDAYS and GENTLEMAN’S DUB CLUB.

‘Without a suitable stage, we simply have no capability to run the event. We are so frustrated to be unable to deliver this event in 2022, due to the unforeseen circumstances above.

‘We would like to thank everyone for showing their ongoing support towards this new event, even in these challenging times. We have every intention of returning with DAYS LIKE THESE next summer, when the landscape for events and the supply chain is more settled.

‘All of our focus will now be on OUT-THERE which is running on 2nd and 3rd July at Val De Le Mare. We’ll be doing everything we can to make sure that this is the party of the summer, and we hope that some of you who were planning on going to DAYS LIKE THESE can join us for that.

‘We sincerely apologise to anyone for any inconvenience caused. Customers who have purchased their DAYS LIKE THESE ticket will, automatically, receive a refund within 14 days via CM.com

‘We re simply gutted and cant express how much we wanted to make this event as special as it was meant to be.

‘Please keep posted on here as we will advise on the news for 2023 when we can.’
