PLANS to replace a physiotherapy business in St Saviour with two new homes have sparked a backlash from neighbouring residents over privacy concerns.
The proposals include demolishing the existing Reaction Physiotherapy premises in Rue du Froid Vent and constructing a four-bedroom and a three-bedroom home.
An application was previously made for similar plans at the start of the year but was refused, on the grounds that it represented an overdevelopment of the site and did not provide an adequate level of privacy for neighbours.
In the latest proposals, the houses have been redesigned and scaled down to try to overcome potential overlooking issues.
However, a number of residents have objected to the new scheme.
In a submission to the government’s Planning website, Peter Le Chevalier said the application should be refused in its current form, as both units would still overlook the properties to the north.
‘We request that the balconies of both units are removed entirely, not just obscured, as unit one shows in the most recent application,’ he said.
Fiona Surrock agreed: ‘The new plans have moved the buildings closer to Lagonda and Jardin du Sud and there is no mention of the mature trees that were promised to be planted to screen these large buildings. There will be no privacy in any of the gardens to the south of the buildings, as the height and proximity of said buildings will be overbearing.’
Sue Mould said that she and her husband already had limited privacy and the proposals would only worsen this.
‘With this new and revised application, how does this leave us with two new buildings, their height, balconies, noise and cars constantly coming and going?’ she asked.
