THE coronavirus helpline has closed, as the government scales back its response to the virus.

Its closure is amongst a series of measures which were announced earlier this month. Others include an end to PCR testing and the deactivation of the Jersey Covid alert app.

The changes will see the management of Covid move from an emergency response into pre-existing services.

As part of the announcement, the Airport testing centre will close and weekly Covid data updates ceased this week.

Some limited telephone services to support vaccination bookings and covid status certification will remain in place, according to the government.

Public Health director Professor Peter Bradley said: ‘I’d like to thank everyone who has worked extremely hard since the helpline launched in 2020. They have been instrumental in ensuring Islanders were supported through the pandemic.’

Full public health guidance remains on gov.je/coronavirus and Islanders can still book vaccinations via gov.je/vaccine.

Islanders who test positive on LFTs and are not able to work could be eligible for Short Term Incapacity Allowance (STIA).

Further information on STIA can be found at gov.je/stia.
