THE people have spoken… and they agree with the Planning Committee’s assessment of plans for a ‘landmark’ building in town.

An artist’s impression of the soon-to-be redesigned Ingouville House, near the Arts Centre, split opinion on social media, with some people saying it looked like a building from the computer game Minecraft, while others said it was ‘exciting and modern’. But the majority of respondents to a JEP online poll were in favour, with 55% of those who took part saying that they too would have approved the plans, and 45% saying they wouldn’t.

Politicians on the committee voted unanimously in favour of the scheme last week.

The project will create eight two-bedroom residential apartments and landscaped amenity space. The scheme will also see the provision of a restaurant with al-fresco seating.

PF+A Architecture – the agents behind the scheme – said Ingouville House would become a ‘landmark building’.
