EFFORTS are under way to free a humpback whale which has become stuck in the Rance estuary near St Malo.
The juvenile managed to navigate through the dam of a tidal power plant in what one local official described as an ‘exceptional event’.
It has been seen multiple times between St Malo and Dinard.
Specialist teams are trying to direct the seven-metre-long animal back to sea.
