'Admin error' leads to fine

A MOTORIST who committed ‘one error in many years of good driving’ has been fined £500 for driving without insurance.

Andrew Fish (40) appeared in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday for failing to insure his vehicle in what he described as an admin error.

He said that it was ‘a complete oversight’ and that he had since set a reminder in his calendar to renew his insurance.

The Magistrate, Bridget Shaw, said: ‘You have been negligent, but it is not as if you couldn’t care less, you’ve always cared about [insurance]. It was one error in many years of good driving and there is no need to disqualify you.’
