THE St Helier RNLI crew were called into action during the Barclays Jersey Boat Show on Saturday after a sailing boat became stuck in fishing gear south of the Minquiers reef.

Members of the public were quickly moved off the all-weather lifeboat during a display at the show before the vessel headed south to help the 46-ft yacht.

On arrival at the scene, a small auxiliary boat was launched, enabling the RNLI crew to get close to the yacht and cut the fishing rope away from the rudder and propeller.

The yacht was checked over before it continued on to France.
