Custody for drink-driver who was arrested in 2019

A 35-YEAR-OLD man who admitted driving while almost three times the legal alcohol limit four years ago has been remanded in custody.

Robert Weaver was arrested on 22 September 2019 for drinking and driving. He was found to have 236 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80 milligrams.

Weaver denied additional charges of driving without a valid licence or insurance.

The Magistrate’s Court heard that he had been due to appear in court after his 2019 arrest but had left the Island.

Judicial proceedings recommenced when he returned to Jersey.

Assistant Magistrate Peter Harris adjourned the case until 19 May and remanded Weaver in custody until then.
