FORMER Spice Girl Mel C has been announced as a headline act in a girl-power-strong Weekender Festival this September.
Building on the success the festival has seen with female artists in previous years, organisers have announced four extra women in a line-up that aims to champion female talent.
Alongside Mel C, the event will also feature Lost Without You singer Freya Ridings, TikTok star turned radio mainstay Venbee and Charlotte Plank, who provided her vocals for Dancing is Healing. They will join previously announced artists Becky Hill, James and Hot Dub Time Machine.
Festival organiser Warren Le Sueur said: ‘There’s so many talented females in the industry at the moment.
‘We just made a conscious decision to make an effort to ask more female artists.’
Most will be playing on the Saturday but Mr Le Sueur said there would be a spread across the weekend.
He said the festival had seen ‘some pretty powerful female artists in the past’.
Mr Le Sueur added: ‘Go and support the event and have a great time.’
Weekender Festival will take place at the Royal Jersey Showground on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 September. Tickets are available at weekender.je.
