A YACHT with seven people on board was towed back to St Helier after getting into difficulties near the Minquiers reef in rough sea conditions.
The RNLI’s all-weather lifeboat and the St Malo lifeboat were called out when the 14-metre vessel lost power and steering.
The Jersey lifeboat was on scene in about an hour and it was decided to tow the yacht to St Helier, while the St Malo vessel returned to port.
Due to the fresh north-easterly wind and rough sea conditions, the journey back to Jersey took almost six hours.
