DO you know an inspirational woman who has made a difference to the community?
Nominations are now open for Soroptimist International Jersey’s 25th Inspirational Woman of the Year Award.
Islanders who would like to recognise a female community member for her selflessness, dedication, generosity or achievement, as well as a number of other criteria, can go online and fill in a nomination form or collect a copy from town.
The award will be presented to the winner at the Soroptimists International Jersey afternoon tea event, which is due to be held in the grounds of Government House on Thursday 4 July at 4pm.
Kate Wright, a cultural change HR consultant, and chair of the Violence Against Women and Girls Taskforce, is scheduled to address the attendees – which will include inspiring, exceptional women from the community alongside previous Inspirational Woman of the Year award winners.
Last year’s winner was Jersey’s “Mrs Menopause”, Trudi Roscouet, a wellness coach and the founder of Vitality40plus, who campaigns to raise awareness of the struggles related to the menopause and how it affects women in the workplace.
The award was founded in 1998 and was initially known as the “Women in the Community Award”. The first winner was the late Ruth Dolbel, who had run the 9th Jersey (St Luke’s) Scout Group with her husband since its inception in 1974.
