LES Quennevais Sports Centre, which shut ten days ago, is likely to remain closed until the end of the month, as investigations into a problem with the power supply continue.
In a social-media post yesterday, sports centre staff said that work had started to correct some of the technical faults, but that investigations are ongoing.
The statement added: “The whole building will need to remain closed to the public until investigations have been completed and we know which areas are safe to open.”
“We hope to reopen some areas on Monday 29 April, subject to these getting the ‘all clear’ from the engineering team.”
“This will not include the pools, sauna and steam, and is unlikely to include the first-floor gym in the first stages, as circuits that service those areas need to be replaced.”
Active Jersey confirmed last week that activity in the surrounding club buildings and the playing fields would continue as normal, while alternative lane swimming sessions will be available to book at Langford, and group fitness classes have been moved to alternative facilities at Langford and Springfield.
