A FORMER journalist who has served as chair of the Jersey Consumer Council since 2018 has been put forward to remain in the role for a further three years.

Economic Development Minister Kirsten Morel has lodged a proposition, set to be considered by States Members next month, outlining the intention that Carl Walker be given a “final re-appointment” as chair.

Mr Walker moved to Jersey in 2000 and covered a wide range of consumer-related topics during an 18-year stint working for the JEP.

In a report covering his propostion, Deputy Morel said the three-year extension would allow the council to progress projects delayed as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.
