A SPEED boat was rescued by an inshore lifeboat after breaking down near Canger Buoy off the Island’s south-east corner yesterday.

The Jersey Lifeboat Association Albert Pinel was called into action at 5.20pm after receiving a call from the occupants of the 16-foot speed boat.

A JLA spokesperson said the crew had arrived at the scene within 30 minutes of the initial call and were able to tow the broken down ashore, where it was loaded onto a trailer.

The spokesperson paid tribute to the occupants of the speed boat for having been “well-prepared with lifejackets, safety gear, and communication equipment”.
