HUNDREDS of Jersey students received their A-level results today.
While many students returned in person to their school or college to find out their exact grades, news about whether they had achieved places in further education was available online from 8am.
Education Minister Rob Ward said he wished to congratulate the class of 2024 for their hard work and dedication, wishing school-leavers the best of luck on whatever they would be doing next.
Ahead of detailed breakdowns of results expected to be released by the Education Department this afternoon, individual schools have flagged their own results:
– Beaulieu Convent School said it was “thrilled” to report 34% of all subjects were passed at grade A or A*, while 98% of students had been accepted by either their first or second choice of university.
– De La Salle College headteacher Jason Turner said it was “hard to describe” his delight at the performance of pupils, which saw the highest-ever figure of passes at grades A*-C: 85%.
– Jersey College for Girls highlighted the “extraordinary accomplishment” of students, with a 100% pass rate across all subjects and 93% at A*-C.
– Kate Blackhall, interim headteacher at Hautlieu, paid tribute to the support of parents and teachers in helping the school report a figure of just under 70% of passes at A*-C.
– Boys at Victoria College were hailed for their “perseverance and resilience” by headteacher Dr Gareth Hughes, who said they had achieved “qualifications that will pave the way for the rest of their lives”. These included 39.3% of passes at A or A* and 71% at grade B or above, with 95% of students gaining confirmed places at their first or reserve choice of university.
Deputy Ward said that the Skills Jersey Careers Guidance Team and the Student Finance Team were available to offer advice to anyone who needed it..
