TRY not to be alarmed if you spot Donald Trump unloading his golf clubs from a removals van…
According to a leading pollster, Jersey is the perfect place for him to lay low if he wants to win November’s US election.
Well-known American political journalist and pollster Frank Luntz made the off-the-cuff remark on the latest episode of the popular podcast “Leading”.
Hosted by Rory Stewart and Alastair Campbell, the show is a spin-off of their hit podcast The Rest Is Politics, which has an audience of more than 200,000.
In Monday’s episode, Mr Luntz discussed the upcoming US election with the two hosts and spoke about what voters will be thinking about the two candidates, Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump.
When asked what independent voters would like to hear from the Trump campaign, Mr Luntz said: “Nothing.
“They don’t want to hear his attacks. They don’t want to hear his mistreatment. They don’t want to hear his rude commentary and his insults.”
He continued: “If Donald Trump were just to go away. Jersey, the Channel Isles, a place that I don’t know in Scotland, that I have no idea how to get to.
“If you could stick him in Belfast and just keep him there for three months, two and a half months, he’d be elected.”
Perhaps the former US President will take inspiration from friend and Reform leader Nigel Farage who has previously said he that would consider a move to the Channel Islands.
