This week in 1980 the then reigning European Champions, Nottingham Forest, visited Jersey for a break from the media spotlight before their League Cup final against Wolves on 15 March, which they lost 1-0

The party made a brief social visit to Sands on the Five Mile Road at the invitation of joint owners Harry Proffitt, the Island football team’s manager-coach, and Terry Doak, a former Notts County player, who had both been friends of Brian Clough for a number of years.
