Antoine Griezmann denied Cristiano Ronaldo the derby headlines as Atletico Madrid fought back to claim a 1-1 draw at Real Madrid.

Griezmann’s 57th-minute equaliser cancelled out Ronaldo’s earlier strike to extend Diego Simeone’s side’s run at the Bernabeu Stadium to three wins and two draws in their last five visits and keep them four points clear of their city rivals.

It also left leaders Barcelona 11 points better off than second-placed Atletico at the top of the LaLiga table with seven games to play.

Cristiano Ronaldo – the Portugal forward was less than impressed when manager Zinedine Zidane ended his afternoon with just 63 minutes gone, but once again, he made a telling contribution as he took his tally to 24 goals in his last 13 games. He had already forced two saves from keeper Jan Oblak when he dispatched Gareth Bale’s cross past him with an imperious swish of his right boot to put Real ahead.
