Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams were all in action and all made it through to round three.
But those players not lucky enough to be scheduled on a show court with a roof were left frustrated as rain wiped out play for the entire day.

There were not enough matches to provide a genuine shock, but there was certainly mild surprise that Federer, for the second successive match, dropped the opening set, this time against Damir Dzumhur. But the five-time champion still won in four. Serena Williams was also a set down to 17-year-old Caty McAnally but battled through.
