The emergency services were called out at about noon on Friday following a single-vehicle accident near Tesson Chapel.
The 70-year-old driver of the red Rover was pronounced dead a short time later. It is not known whether the man died as a result of the accident or whether he suffered medical problems at the wheel.
A file is due to be prepared for the Viscount’s Office and his next of kin have been informed.
The road was closed between 12.15 pm and 2.40 pm.
Meanwhile, the emergency services were called out to the bottom of Jubilee Hill in St Peter at noon after a car careered off the road and flipped onto its roof.
And a 25-year-old moped rider escaped injury in an accident in Elizabeth Lane in St Helier.
