Elderly woman targeted by thieves

AN elderly woman was injured after her mobility scooter toppled over when she was the victim of a theft.

The States police are appealing for information after two men stole the woman's silver purse at about 6.30 pm on Wednesday.

During the incident on Clarendon Road the woman's mobility scooter toppled over causing her to sustain some minor injuries. She was also left her shaken and distressed.

The men who took the purse from her scooter fled towards Palmyra Road.

The two men involved are described as being in their late teens to early twenties. One was wearing a dark grey hooded top, with the hood pulled up and was wearing a cap underneath.

A States policewoman said: 'This is a particularly unpleasant crime on a vulnerable member of the community, which we are taking very seriously.'

The police would like to hear from anyone who was in the area of Clarendon Road and Palmyra Road about 6.30 pm on Wednesday who either saw the incident, anybody behaving suspiciously, or who has any information. They are asked to call police on 612612 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
