Sam Cooper is to take over at d’Auvergne following six years at Springfield School. He has been working in Jersey schools for a total of 25 years.

Lyn Linton, who has taught at a number of schools in the UK but was educated at Grainville and Hautlieu, is due to return to the Island to be head of First Tower School.

And Phil Walker, who has served as Plat Douet School’s senior leader and deputy head for the last six years, has been announced as the school’s new head teacher.

Mr Cooper and Mr Walker are due to start their new roles in September. Mrs Linton’s start date is yet to be announced.

Mr Cooper, who is taking over from Cris Lakeman, said: ‘I am absolutely delighted to be appointed as headteacher of d’Auvergne Primary. The school has an excellent reputation and I intend to build on this.

‘I should like to express my sincere thanks and best wishes to the fantastic Springfield School community for their support. I have loved working with them as deputy and headteacher for the last 15 years.’

Mrs Linton, who takes over from acting head Debbie Maindonald and most recently worked as a headteacher for five years in Hertfordshire, said: ‘I am delighted and honoured to be appointed the new headteacher for First Tower School, and I am very keen to get to know all the pupils, staff and parents.

‘Being the headteacher of a school is a great privilege and I am looking forward to the challenges and rewards that go with it.’

And Mr Walker is due to take over from Suzanne Conoops, who has been Plat Douet’s headteacher for 19 years and is only the fourth head in the school’s 50-year history.

He said: ‘I am absolutely delighted and honoured to have been appointed as the fifth headteacher of such a wonderful school.

‘I follow a very successful and inspirational headteacher, and I am determined to carry on and further develop the excellence in education at Plat Douet.

‘I would like to thank Suzanne for her encouragement, constant high expectations for all and for being instrumental in developing my skills to enable me to take up the role and continue the development of Plat Douet School. It is a privilege to do so and I look forward to an exciting future.’
